Sutton Fog, from memory at High Prairie, Artist Residency , 2007

Sutton Fog, in progress at studio

I graduated from Concordia University with a B.A. Fine Arts (studio art & art history). Then continued to further develop my painting and drawing skills with Leslie Coppold, Harold Klunder and Jennifer Hornyak.
Recently, the sketchbook has become an important ingredient in my artistic journey. Now I uses it as a journal to document quickly and intuitively with watercolour and pencil what is happening in my life. An added advantage to these watercolour sketches they hold memories of space and colour combination which surface in my studio when working with oil on larger canvases.

These are milestones that encouraged and gave me opportunities to present my works -“Les Femmeuses,” 2006 sponsored by Pratt and Whitney; an artist residency in Grand Prairie, Alberta with touring exhibition “Collective Souls“, 2008Stewart Hall “Art Gallery Rental and Sales“, Pointe-Claire; Women’s Art Society of Montreal; Cube Gallery, Ottawa; Marie Ancelin Gallery, Kamouraska; Framed Life Gallery, Toronto; Hudson Studio Tour 2006-7 & 2014-15, Québec; Encan d’OMPAC, Montreal; Wildcard for Le Nichoir, Hudson; Art Sale for Old Brewery Mission, 2016-2017
Solo exhibition at Toronto Visual Art Center; Gallery Skelly, St. Eugène, Ontario; A Temp Perdu, Hudson, Qc; Two Owl Barn, Hudson, Qc

Then the COVID pandemic occurs with all gatherings in public spaces not permitted. As artist we are use to working alone in our studio but this lack of interactivity with others and restrictions of travel is now a fact. Eventually restrictions are lifted. Our artist group of plein air painters returns to Charlevoix in 2022 and a trip to paint in Cape Breton puts alright. Workshops are opened.  I travel to Parrasboro, Nova Scotia for a portraiture session with William Rogers at the ArtLab. What an enjoyable 3 days with nothing to do but paint the human body.

As visual artist, we appreciate the freedom to interrupt what we see and feel in our own unique way. Daily work in the studio with lots of opportunities to paint directly from nature gives satisfaction and acceptance of life.
